I had the opportunity to shoot the new Louis Vuitton collection, “Chain Attraction,” in a festive ambiance. The mood was fun and glam, and the collection immediately seduced me with its exuberance, generous volumes (I have a horrible weakness– I only love big jewelry!), ’70s designs and retro allure. The collection centers on four necklaces and their corresponding rings, bracelets and earrings. The pendants (huge!) are hung on thick chains (hence the name of the collection, “Chain”– why make it complicated when it can be simple, right?) Tahiti pearls, chalcedony, moonstone, a huge mandarin garnet (20 carats) and baguette-cut opals. Louis Vuitton went in search of exotic stones for this astonishing, successful new line. Breaking with the codes of previous collections, this one is less focused on travel. Chain Attraction made me think of women like Talitha Getty, Lee Radziwill, Diana Vreeland… strong personalities who own their extravagance, who love nights out, real party women!
