PHENOMENAL FASHION

It’s always interesting to discover each season what a vast array of inspiration designers can play on. For Dolce & Gabbana, it was the graceful elegance of the Mamma (or Maman, as most of the inscriptions on the clothes were in French), complete with dimpled bambino on her arm – but obviously no Bugaboo pushchair in sight. At Philosophy, Lorenzo Serafini’s take on romanticism is all ruffles and flowing blouses, with that denim edge favoured by Brooke Shields, the collection’s main muse. Eye-popping colors streamed down the runway at MSGM, while Marco de Vincenzo’s textured silhouettes got us all wishing for those technicolor sunglasses to brighten up our days. Tales of folklore were spun by ace designer Stella Jean, who, inspired by « multicultural crossovers », added embroidered Himalayan capes to denim and tweed. And, predictably, Miuccia did it again: pastel hues, opera gloves, Perspex brooches, fur stoles and kitten heels make up the wardrobe of the ultimate modern débutante at another glorious Prada show.
