Jean Paul Gaultier has set up residence in the mythical theatre that are the Folies Bergère to enchant us with his Fashion Freak Show. If the current trend is for cinematic biopics, the famous French designer has chosen the iconic Parisian cabaret to tell his life, his journey and his work.
The true punk ready-to-wear King revisits the great moments of his creation. From the birth of “Nana” — the first transgender teddy bear of History — to his first underground fashion show with his closets friends, whose whole fashion sphere still remembers for his mythical and not the least iconic “garbage bag” dress. Then passing through the Palace years, when his beloved Francis passed away…
Each chapter is a performance of dance and comedy! During 2.30 hours of show, the public is delighted to witness the life of the one whom the fashion press has always considered as “the terrible child of fashion”. Performed by a troupe of dancers, fueled by excellent performances of guest stars (very special mention to Catherine Ringer, more emotional than ever), the show is like champagne bubbles : sparkling and light.
So much delight, thanks to these males, to these girls with delicious shapes, and especially to the extravagance of chic made in Gaultier. You will comes out conquered and happy to feel free and beautiful, with one thing in mind : keep dancing on the amazing soundtrack of the show (available here) and pretending you are the sculptural Anna Cleveland.. Everyone is a muse, thanks to Jean Paul!
A must see!
The Fashion Freak show by Jean-Paul Gaultier will play till June 16th at Les Folies Bergeres, before going worldwide. Don’t miss it, Freak is chic!
